- Most modems have an S-register setting that can be adjusted to set the
- duration (usually in 10ths of a second) that the modem waits after loss of
- carrier before hanging up. This guard time allows the modem to distinguish
- between a line hit, or other disturbance that momentarily breaks the connection,
- from a true disconnect. Try adjusting the default duration downward and
- see if you can get your modem to drop the line when call-waiting activates.

- On USR modems the S-register is probably S10 with a default setting of 7.
